Who doesn't love a good sangria, but not the work it takes to make it? And who hasn't accidentally left out overnight an open, half-full bottle of red wine only to find the fresh fruit flavors and aromatics flattened out? Mixicles to the rescue!
Here's what you do: put two Mixicles cubes in a glass (we recommend one each of Orange Blossom Pomegranate and Blueberry Lemon Basil, found in our Distinctive and Essential Collections, respectively) and top them with the wine. Seriously, that's it. You don't want to use your best wine for sangria anyway because you're mixing other ingredients into it. (And although drinking a wine that has faded due to oxidation won't make you sick, it won't taste very good.)
If you'd like, you can add some slices of fruit like apples and oranges to the glass as well as some ice, but the Mixicles will provide all the flavor you need and chill the wine at the same time. You can also add a shot of brandy or a flavored liqueur like Cointreau to boost the alcohol content and deepen the flavor, but that's totally up to you.
Quickie Sangria (aka Wine Reviver)
- 1 Orange Blossom Pomegranate Mixicles® cube
- 1 Blueberry Lemon Basil Mixicles® cube
- 1/4 apple, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 orange, chopped, plus a slice for garnish (optional)
- 4 to 5 oz. red wine
- 1 oz. orange liqueur, such as Cointreau® (optional)
Place Mixicles® cubes and fruit pieces in the bottom of a wine glass. Add wine and orange liqueur. Stir well. If desired, top with ice and garnish with a slice of orange.
